Rates and Pricing
How much is this going to cost? I know that's what I always want to know first, and it's the last thing the salesperson gets around to. Not here. It's true that each website is different and the more bells and whistles you want to add, the more it's going to cost, but you still need something to go on, right? So here's some general guidelines about our rates; please contact us with any questions.
Website Design and Development
Custom (Bespoke) Websites
Custom websites are just that: designed from scratch to suit your business and your needs. They're original, unique designs—not templates or copycats. At Merkel Marketing they can also be a very economical option because once we've created the first page, subsequent pages cost significantly less.
First page: $950 (Establishes the basic site structure, page layout, navigation menu(s), color scheme, etc.)
Each additional page: $75-250 (Subsequent pages are based on the first page and require less labor, but some will be more complicated than others, especially dynamic pages that require more coding).
Edits & Changes: $60/hour (Any additional work above and beyond contract agreement. Charged in 15 minute increments).
Web Content Management Systems
Web content management systems (WCMS or, more often, CMS) are a great option for businesses that need to be able to update their website on a regular basis. For businesses interested in a CMS, the good news is that there are several very good open source CMS packages (Drupal, Joomla!, Wordpress) that are FREE TO USE. The bad news (there's always bad news) is that developing a website that incorporates a CMS can cost more up-front. Depending on how often your business needs to change content, it may be more economical to use Merkel Marketing to update the site on a quarterly basis. Click here to learn more about CMS.
The more particular you are about how your site should look, the more it will cost to use a CMS. Free templates are available to change the layout and appearance of a CMS-powered site, so the further you stray from the generic, the more it will cost to customize the site. Merkel Marketing has been successful at helping our clients find a good balance between a unique look and a hefty price tag. There are a lot of ways to make a generic template look different: chances are, when we're done, your customers won't be able to tell!
Marketing Communications
Think of Merkel Marketing as your on-call marketing communications department. At a simple rate of $60/hour, we'll design a brochure, an advertisement or a postcard. Or help you write copy for a proposal, report or press release. Or update your website, prepare email stationery or help you launch an email campaign.
